About Maylands:

Maylands, is an inner-city suburb on the northern side of the Swan River located about 4.5 kilometers (2.8 mi) northeast of Perth. It is bordered by the Midland railway line.

It was developed during the 1890s and now belongs to Bayswater (the suburb was mostly part of Stirling until 1998), with Mount Lawley, East Perth, and Bayswater as its neighbours. Maylands railway station is conveniently located near the City Centre and beyond. Originally built in the 1880s, the railway station was extensively renovated in 2000. By the Swan River, a shared path for bicycles and pedestrians has recently been built between Maylands and neighbouring suburbs. Also on the premises are a yacht club and golf course.

The clay from Maylands Brickworks was used to make bricks and tiles, and the pits have now been turned into a golf course and a residential area. From the early 1960s until the end of the century, it was home to Perth's main airport, which serviced different types of aircraft and even flying boats. After they were converted, the Perth Police Service began using the spaces for training.
