About St James:

St James, is a suburb in the Perth metropolitan area, shared by the Town of Victoria Park and the City of Canning.

The park was gazetted in 1957 by the Canning Road Board (now City of Canning) and named after St James's Park in London. Several streets in the suburb are named after prominent UK Prime Ministers and Members of Parliament (including Palmerston, Walpole and Pitt streets). This thoroughfare is the main east-west thoroughfare running through the suburb, defining the boundary between Canning and Victoria Park. In the east and west, Albany Highway and Berwick Street-Chapman Road are the main north-south counterparts.
